Arts & Dance

Alpha Beta Tau

Organization composed of Columbia College students majoring in art or related fields whose purpose is to enrich and promote a greater appreciation for art and its ideals on campus and in the community.

CC National Dance Education Organization

CCNDEO advocates for dance education, provides dance opportunities for students regardless of race, socioeconomic status, disability, gender, religion, etc.  and rewards dance majors or minors who excel academically, professionally, and physically.
CC Performance Troupe (CC Players)
The Columbia College Players is open to anyone in the Columbia College community who has an interest in drama. The Columbia College Players support all productions of the Department of Communication and Theatre, as well as sponsoring workshop and social events.

Columbia College Dance Company

We, the members of the Columbia College Dance Company join together in this dance company to investigate, generate, articulate, and discover our unique artistry. We strive to accomplish this by advocating for dance as an art form as well as an academic study and encouraging others to explore their own artistic endeavors, and providing a favorable environment for the creation of dances by members of our company for our own artistic growth and for the enjoyment and education of others.

Academic, Honors & Research

Association of Mindful Psychology Students/Psi Chi

AMPS/Psi Chi provides all majors, particularly psychology majors, with opportunities for psychology-related service, socializing, and networking; and to encourage excellence in general academic study and within the study of psychology specifically for membership in Psi Chi, the international honor society for psychology.

Business, Entrepreneurship, and Accounting

BEA brings Business, Entrepreneurship, and Accounting majors and minors together for social and educational benefits. Activities include programs to stimulate interest in the business, entrepreneurship and accounting fields and to bring contacts to Columbia College.

C4 (Columbia College Communication Club)

The purpose of C4 is to promote the academic, professional and personal development of communication students; promote free and responsible discourse on campus; and to teach the college community about the significance of communication studies.

CC Social Work Association

The purpose of CCSWA shall be to form a club to promote the unity amongst Social Work students and also to foster professionalism with the Social Work Practice.

Chi Beta Phi

The purpose of Chi Beta Phi is to promote interest in science and give recognition to scholarly attainment in and outstanding contributions to the fields of natural science and mathematics.

Historical Society/Phi Alpha Theta

The purpose of the Historical Society shall be to broaden the experiences of Columbia College students in the field of history, to build connections between Columbia College and the historical community of Columbia and South Carolina, to enhance the personal and professional skills of Columbia College students through historical study, and to strengthen social ties among Columbia College history through enjoyable history-related activities.

Honors Student Association

The purpose of HAS shall be for honors program students to assist the Honors Program with curricular and co-curricular ventures.

Math & Computing Society

The purpose of MCS shall be to increase appreciation of mathematics and computing on campus, provide academic support through networking, collaboration or support groups, to provide opportunities regarding career directions in math and computing, to provide math and computing related services to the community, and to increase community between students and the Mathematics Department.

Kappa Delta Epsilon

The purpose of Kappa Delta Epsilon is to unite education career-bound students and professional educators in an honorary professional organization for campus or community service; to encourage all members in support of and active participation in current educational endeavors; to acquaint members with the history and ethics of the teaching professions; to lead members to develop high level of professional responsibilities; to develop a spirit of mutual  understanding, cooperation and fellowship among its entire membership.

Pre-Health Club

The purpose of the pre-med club shall be to remain current on all information on gaining acceptance into medical school; hope to augment our education at Columbia college with specifically related information; to engage in activities on and off campus related to pre-medical student interests.

Pre-Law Majors Club

The purpose of the pre-law club shall be to help provide information and assistance to individuals preparing to apply to law school and interested in pursuing a career in the legal profession.

Purple Preps

The purpose of P.R.E.P.S. is to engage the minds of women with confidence, competence, courage and commitment while bringing spirit to our campus and motivating all athletic teams.

Sigma Tau Delta

The Columbia College Iota Beta chapter of Sigma Tau Delta English Honor Society has been in existence since 1928 and is one of the oldest chapters of Sigma Tau Delta, which was founded in 1924. One of only three honor societies on campus sanctioned by the Association of College Honor Societies, Sigma Tau Delta is dedicated to promoting the value of literacy and the exemplary study of English language, literature, and writing. The college’s Iota Beta chapter and its leadership have earned recognition and awards for excellence from the home organization. Exclusive student and faculty lifetime membership is determined each year by meeting rigorous standards established by Sigma Tau Delta.

Campus Community & Student Government

Alpha Sigma Alpha

Alpha Sigma Alpha (ΑΣΑ) is a women’s organization that is part of the National Panhellenic Council and promotes high ideals and standards for its members throughout their lives by emphasizing balance among the four aims of intellectual, physical, social, and spiritual development. Alpha Sigma Alpha does this by providing opportunities throughout sisterhood, heritage, leadership, and service. The vision of Alpha Sigma Alpha is to cultivate values and ideals in women who are known for their character and concern for others and strives to inspire women to lead, to serve, and most of all, to make a difference. The Iota Theta chapter of Alpha Sigma Alpha (ΑΣΑ) was officially installed in Columbia College on November 10, 2018. Because of the strong emphasis placed on growth through leadership, the women of the Iota Theta Chapter are all unique, strong, and motivated women who have the desire to leave a positive impact on all who come into contact with them.

CC-SCECA

The purpose of CC-SCECA shall be to increase the awareness of the needs to work for knowledge and cooperation between parents, teachers, research workers, doctors, religious workers and others in the field.

CC Student Government Association

We, the student body of Columbia College, with the goal of unifying the student body through one shared system of self-governance, in order to uphold our honor system and to promote better citizenship by developing a feeling of responsibility and providing practice in democratic living, do hereby establish the Columbia College Student Government Association, pledging to support it, respect it, and sustain it.

Columbia College Activities Board (CCAB)

The purpose of the Columbia College Activities Board (CCAB) is to provide and coordinate social and recreational activities that are fun and beneficial to the students.  The Columbia College Activities Board works cooperatively with the Student Government Association and other campus organizations to promote interest in social events on and off campus and to encourage college unity and spirit through a variety of activities and traditional events such as Ludy Bowl, Mom’s Day, and Dad’s Night.

Commuter Student Association

The purpose of CSA is to inform commuter students of events on campus and in the community, and to act as a voice for the concerns of the commuter population.

ECSGA

The purpose of the ECSGA is to inform evening students of events on campus in the community, and to act as a voice for the concerns of the evening student population.

International Studies Association

The purpose of the International Studies Association (ISA) shall be to create an environment that fosters the awareness of Columbia College students about international events. This club will cater to students already interested in and students aspiring to become interested in international affairs.

Organizations for Each Class

“Class of” organizations are run by officers representing each corresponding class. These organizations assist in the planning of traditional events such as Junior Ring ceremony, Senior Chapel, etc.

Palmetto State Teachers Association

The purpose of the Association shall be to Maintain, promote and foster the right of all pre-service educators to have free choice with respect to membership in professional organizations and to be free from compulsory membership in any association or organization.

PostScript

The Postscript, Columbia College's student newspaper, provides news on current events, student life and College activities. Although The Postscript is an independent publication with students largely responsible for its editorial and news, faculty advisors serve as consultants on journalistic issues. The Post Script's purpose is to encourage originality, independent thinking, excellent journalism and interest in the field of mass communications.

Residence Hall Association (RHA)

The purpose of RHA shall be to represent and look out for the interests of those who live in Columbia College. We seek to provide improvements to the on-campus living experience by serving as a liaison between residents and the Office of Residence Life providing programs (both large scale and small) and community service activities.

Student Alumni Ambassadors

Student Alumni Ambassadors promote interaction among current students and alumni of Columbia College. SAA supports issues among alumni and students in order to increase interest in campus activities, fundraising, and other related activities.

Spectrum

The purpose of Spectrum shall be to bring together lesbian, bisexuals, and allies of the gay community together to enhance awareness through dialogue about sexual orientation. Spectrum provides a comfortable and supportive atmosphere where one is able to confront their and other assumptions and perceptions about alternative lifestyles through education.

The Criterion

Published each year by students, The Criterion is the College's literary publication. The Criterion is published to promote student interest in literary activities and to encourage creative writing. The magazine contains poetry, essays, and short stories and is illustrated with student artwork.

Culture & Diversity

African American Student Association

Membership in the Columbia College African-American Students Association is open to Columbia College students, faculty, and staff, as well as others interested in the mission of the organization.
 
The club strives to bring together people with a common outlook, to increase awareness of the African-American heritage academically and socially, to establish links between the organization and the outside community through service projects, and to present the organization’s ideas and philosophy to the Columbia College campus through service programs and discussions.

Estamos Unidas Latina Association

Estamos Unidas LSA, Columbia College’s Latina Association, has two main goals: to unify and best serve the diverse Hispanic population on campus, and to empower the surrounding Latino community through education, service and cultural awareness. Furthermore, we seek to promote academic excellence and leadership among Latino students. We welcome students and individuals of all backgrounds who want to promote our cultures and educate themselves about the diversity and richness of the Hispanic communities.

National Association for the Advancement of Colored People

The purpose and aim of the college chapter of the NAACP shall be to improve the political, educational, social and economic status of minority groups.

Spiritual Groups & Gospel Choir

Baptist Collegiate Ministry

BCM is a ministry to individuals in the Columbia College community who have a need for spiritual growth and Christian fellowship.

Campus Crusade for Christ

The Campus Crusade for Christ aims to help students grow spiritually in their lives by teaching them the basics of the Christian life.

Clubhouse

Clubhouse is a student-led outreach dedicated to the life, teaching and ministry of Jesus Christ. Although Clubhouse is a Christian Organization, it invite and welcomes board members, leadership team members, volunteers, donors, children and community members from other faiths actively committed to Clubhouse’s mission, principles and methods of operations.

Heavenly Creations Gospel Choir

The purpose of this organization is to praise the Lord’s name through song and worship, to stimulate Christian fellowship, and to provide and promote spiritual growth of its members. 

Kingdom Glory College Ministries

The purpose of KGCM shall be to unity the body of Christ through praise and worship, liturgical dance and biblical life enrichment studies.

Shandon College Ministry

The purpose of Shandon College Ministries is to get students involved in the College Ministry and show them, "We are sent people who make disciples that make disciples for the glory of God."

Politics

College Republicans

The Columbia College Republican Club, a member of the South Carolina Republication Federation, provides students the opportunity to learn about the political process, and to participate in the activities of the Republican Party. The club works jointly with the state and all county headquarters in campaign production and pre-campaign activities of the Republican Party.

Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority

Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated™ is an international service organization that was founded on the campus of Howard University in Washington, D.C. on January 15, 1908.  It is the oldest Greek-lettered organization established by African American college-educated women. The purpose of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated is to cultivate and encourage high scholastic and ethical standards, to promote unity and friendship among college women, to study and help alleviate problems concerning girls and women in order to improve their social stature, to maintain a progressive interest in college life, and to be of “Service to All Mankind.” The Upsilon Zeta Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated was chartered at Columbia College on March 4, 2018.

Delta Sigma Theta

Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated™ is a private, not-for-profit organization whose purpose is to provide assistance and support through established programs in local communities throughout the world. Since its founding more than 300,000 women have joined the organization. The organization is a sisterhood of predominantly Black, college educated women. Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated was founded on January 13, 1913 by 22 collegiate women at Howard University. The Upsilon Chi Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated was chartered at Columbia College on October 9. 2020.
